Instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM)

What is IATSM?

Instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) uses specialized instruments and equipment to mobilize muscles, scar tissue, tendons, fascia, ligaments, and connective tissue.

Benefits include faster pain relief, improved mobility, and quicker rehabilitation and recovery

Stainless steel tools

Using stainless steel tools to release soft tissue and provide pain relief is a well-researched and evidence-based treatment.

Tools are used to break down the collagen cross-links and stretch connective tissue and muscle fibres. The technique also promotes quicker healing by increasing the amount of blood flow to and from the area, as well as boosting local immune response.

Cupping

Cupping is an ancient technique that uses suction to promote overall blood flow and cellular repair. This helps relieve muscle tension, promote soft tissue healing, and create new blood vessels in the area.

Percussive therapy

Percussive therapy is a fairly new technique that has been quickly adopted by high-level athletes and sports professionals. It involves the delivery of rapid, repetitive pressure on specific pain points in the body, allowing it to reach deeper areas than human hands.

The clinical applications are reducing Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS), improving flexibility, promoting blood flow, improving drainage in the lymphatic system, and providing pain relief.
